On the 21-st of March, 2019, a press-conference on the theme “Renovation of dilapidated housing in Kiev and the resettlement of residents - the first experience of a private developer” was held at the Interfax Ukraine information agency.

The construction company "Intergal-Bud" decided to help local residents to overcome the housing crisis - to settle residents of dilapidated housing in apartments of new buildings.

According to the Ministry of Regional Development of Ukraine, more than 50% of the housing stock requires reconstruction and major repairs. 7.5% of homes are completely considered emergency and represent a real threat to the health and lives of citizens. In Kyiv, the issues of renovating an outdated fund have been trying to solve since 2007. Minregionstroy is preparing a draft law “On the complex reconstruction of quarters (microdistricts) of outdated housing”, but so far more than 600 thousand people live in extremely unsatisfactory conditions of communal apartments, former dormitories and old buildings so-called “khrushchevki”.

The largest number of such houses in Kyiv are located in the districts of Nivki, Syretsky Gardens, in Shevchenko and Darnytsa districts. In particular, on Makarovskaya Street, located in Shevchenko district of the capital, people live in houses that are 50 years old or more. People are promised resettlement from their communal apartments for more than 10 years, but the city is not in a hurry, because there is no money for reconstruction and renovation.

The construction company "Intergal-Bud" decided to take the solution of this problem on itself and help the local residents.

“We talked to activists of houses on Makarovskaya street, saw the conditions in which they live, and decided that we would not only build a new residential complex, but also help the residents in solving their housing problems, ” said Anna Laevska, the commercial director of "Intergal-Bud".

In this case, the developer will not demolish the house, and put people on the street, but firstly provide them with ready housing in their new complexes, and only then will they start building up the neighborhood.

Now on Makarovskaya Street, which was once called the “Kyiv Switzerland”, besides the outdated houses there is a garbage dump and spontaneous buildings. There are broken roads, fallen trees and many homeless people. According to the project, the developer must install about 900 meters of reinforcing structures, which should preserve the relief.

“The company has collected all the necessary documents necessary for the preparatory work. These are permissions, project documentation, etc.,” said Roman Lyoshenko, head of the project management team at "Intergal-Bud".

According to him, the resettlement of people will occur in residential complexes "Kyiv Switzerland", "Nyvky Park" and others.

In turn, residents of the house on Makarovska Street, present at the press conference, said: "We have carefully studied all the documents of this builder, went to look at the apartments that the builder offers us, and we understand that this is the only way for us and our children to escape from these terrible conditions and live like normal people in separate apartments with all comfort. "

Vitaly Grusevich, the executive director of the Confederation of Builders of Ukraine, noted that "Intergal-Bud" has been working in the real estate market for 16 years and always fulfills its obligations to investors. Therefore, such an undertaking of the company as the renovation of an outdated housing stock, the restoration and reconstruction of a microdistrict in the center of the capital will be a good example for many other developers not only in Kyiv, but throughout Ukraine.

Representatives of the media, who attended the press conference, were able to personally hear the thoughts of local residents, talk with representatives of the local authorities and the construction company "Intergal-Bud".
